New Online Filing Abilities for Temporary Protected Status Applicants

USCIS has recently announced that as of November 29, 2021, all eligible applicants for Temporary Protected Status (TPS) can file their forms online. These forms are the I-821, Application for Temporary Protected Status, and Form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization. Applicants may still file their forms in paper format. Those who choose to file with paper may still create a myUSCIS account to track the status of their application.

The countries that are eligible for TPS are:

  • Burma (Myanmar)
  • El Salvador
  • Haiti
  • Honduras
  • Nicaragua
  • Somalia
  • South Sudan
  • Sudan
  • Syria
  • Venezuela
  • Yemen

To file these forms online, eligible applicants should create a USCIS account through the myUSCIS page and navigate to the forms from there. Applicants may request an Employment Authorization Document (EAD) by submitting a completed Form I-765 with their Form I-821 or may submit their Form I-765 at a later date.
