Beginning October 3, 2017, USCIS will resume premium processing for all H-1B petitions. Premium processing was temporarily suspended by USCIS back on April 3, 2017 in an effort to reduce overall H-1B processing times. Individuals with a pending Form I-129 can now file Form I-907, Request for Premium Processing Service, and a copy of their Form I-797, Receipt Notice, with the Service Center where their Form I-129 is currently pending.

What is Premium Processing?

The premium processing service provides expedited processing times for certain employment-based petitions and applications. If premium processing is requested, USCIS guarantees that the applicant’s petition will be processed within 15 calendar days from the date Form I-907 is received.

What is the filing fee?

The Form I-907, Request for Premium Processing Service, filing fee is currently $1,225. This fee may not be waived.

What are the benefits of Premium Processing?

The primary benefit of premium processing is the 15-day processing time. Petitions that do not utilize this service are adjudicated in the order USCIS receives them. Normal processing times for H-1B petitions is roughly four to six months. In addition, USCIS collects an applicant’s phone number, fax number and e-mail address on the Form I-907 so that automatic e-mails can be sent notifying the applicant of the receipt of their Form and again once the case is adjudicated.
