Become a Trusted Traveler in Time for Peak Travel Season

As the weather finally begins to change and vacation plans become finalized, the global peak travel season begins. Whether enjoying the many sights and sounds of our neighbors to the north or south, or taking a trip around the world, shortening travel delays by becoming a trusted traveler is a great way to ensure a smooth vacation. Customs and Border Patrol offer multiple Trusted Traveler Programs to fit the needs of many types of travelers.
NEXUS: Travel between the United States and Canada
The NEXUS program allows pre-screened travelers expedited processing by United States and Canadian officials through dedicated processing lanes, at designated northern border ports of entry, at kiosks at Canadian Preclearance airports, at U.S. airports where applicable and at marine reporting locations. Approved applicants are issued a photo-identification card. This program is intended for frequent U.S. and Canadian travelers. GLOBAL ENTRY: Travel internationally and move quickly through Customs and Border Patrol
Global Entry is a U.S. Customs and Border Protection program that allows expedited clearance for pre-approved, low-risk travelers upon arrival in the United States. Though intended for frequent international travelers, there is no minimum number of trips necessary to qualify for the program. Participants may enter the United States by using automated kiosks located at select airports.
SENTRI: Travel between Mexico and the US via land
SENTRI provides expedited Customs and Border Patrol processing for pre-approved, low-risk travelers at the U.S. and Mexican border. Applicants must voluntarily undergo a thorough biographical background check against criminal, law enforcement, customs, immigration and international indices. A 10-fingerprint law enforcement check and a personal interview with a CBP officer are also required. This program is best suited for frequent land travelers utilizing the southern border.
The U.S. government provides several Trusted Traveler programs in order to improve the traveler experience, while enhancing security and increasing system-wide efficiencies. The programs are customized based on travel needs and many of them have reciprocal benefits.
