CBP Announces NEXUS/FAST Enrollment Centers are Reopening

NEXUS and U.S./Canada FAST enrollment centers in the United States will reopen April 19, 2022, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

Beginning April 5, applicants who are conditionally approved may schedule interviews at U.S. NEXUS and U.S./Canada FAST enrollment centers in the U.S. through the Trusted Traveler Portal (https://ttp.dhs.gov/). In Canada NEXUS and FAST centers will remain closed until further notice. Applicants are allowed to enter the U.S. but must meet all eligible traveler requirements to do so.

NEXUS is a program run through CBP that allows for expedited clearance for pre-approved, low-risk Canadian travelers upon their arrival into the U.S. FAST allows for expedited clearance into the U.S. for pre-approved, low-risk commercial drivers from Mexico and Canada. Both programs are application-based, with a non-refundable $50 fee being charged to the applicant. Once the applicant passes a background check, they will conduct an interview with a CBP officer to make a final decision on eligibility for the program.

CBP is asking these applicants to be patient because of the large backlog in application processing that they are dealing with due to the enrollment centers being closed or partially open due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Should you already be an existing NEXUS or FAST member, CBP is asking for you to refrain from scheduling an appointment at this time so they can process all new applicants. Existing members are allowed to extend their membership applications online before the expiration date on their membership cards passes.
