Cara’s practice centers on employment-based immigration, including:

• Corporate Immigration Programs — guiding multinational corporations through the movement and integration of international talent while maintaining compliance with immigration regulations
• Employment-Based Matters for Professionals — representing individual clients through complex employment-based petitions

Cara’s career path gives her a rare 360-degree view of business immigration. She has worked inside a large corporate tech company’s immigration team, seeing the process from the employer’s side, as well as at an AmLaw firm, a boutique West Coast immigration firm, and a non-profit organization providing pro bono representation to victims of domestic violence and crime. In 2026, she returned home to Buffalo and joined Berardi Immigration Law. Her early international training includes a summer clerkship with Hogan Lovells in Mexico City through the NYSBA International Legal Internship Program.

Cara came to immigration law by choice, not chance. After beginning her career in insurance defense, she made a deliberate shift toward work where she could make a meaningful difference in people’s lives; a decision inspired by her attorney father and her mother, an international business professor, who made the law and global perspectives ever-present in her childhood home. That sense of purpose shapes how she practices today: clients can expect an attorney who pairs corporate-level rigor and compliance know-how with genuine care, ensuring they feel informed and confident at every stage of their immigration journey.

A lifelong traveler, Cara has explored Peru, Costa Rica, and Turkey, and more recently Morocco, Portugal, and Spain with her partner, Jim. When she’s not traveling, she’s usually outdoors with Jim and their springer spaniel, Ilsa; named after the lead in one of her favorite movies, Casablanca.
