Alissa Hogan

Paralegal

After completing her college education, Alissa worked for many years in Health Information Management at a level 2 trauma hospital in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Her professional experiences, coupled with a desire for a new career path, led her back to her alma mater, Northern Michigan University. There, she promptly earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Paralegal Studies, with a minor in International Studies.

Upon relocating to Central New York, Alissa took on the role of a Biometric Fingerprinting Technician at the USCIS Application Support Center in Syracuse. It was during this period, as she interacted with immigrants from diverse backgrounds, listened to their inspiring stories of journeying to the USA, and witnessed naturalization ceremonies, that further motivated her passion for immigration law.

Before joining Berardi Immigration Law, Alissa’s career path led her to a national law firm. She began as an immigration coordinator and progressively expanded her expertise, collaborating with immigration attorneys on complex cases, including H-1B, O-1, and EB petitions, as well as employment and family-based applications. Complementing her practical experience, Alissa subsequently completed the Advanced Certificate in Immigration Law Studies, a comprehensive post-bachelor program through The City University of New York School of Professional Studies.

Beyond her professional pursuits, Alissa’s interests include genealogy, being creative, history, and travel planning. She has an interest in learning the histories of cultures and migration of people, particularly ancient cultures in South America. This was further expanded with her first trip to Peru while attending NMU, which included volunteer work caring for animals through the Maximo Nivel organization.

Alissa’s experience and  commitment to immigration law makes her a valuable asset to the Berardi team, while her personal interests enrich her well-rounded perspective on the world.
